Tesco Online & Organic

I was pretty excited when Tesco had an Organic section on its online store just now…

Organic section in groceries right under Jam, Spreads & Honey.

So, I immediately went to see what’s there. I know in their physical store at Mutiara Damansara, they have an Organic Fresh Produce section, but it is not available online. Spinach is also not available online! Strange eh? Anyway, I clicked it and wallah!

What an interesting selection!

Wow! Two items! There are 2 items under Organic Food. Two bags of rice from Cambodia. lol! Anyway, it is kinda interesting, after chuckling to myself I told Dinie about it and we are trying the 2 in 1 rice. I think it is half white and half brown. Will let you know what it looks and taste like.

Trying to update the Order Form, but…

How annoying! I am trying out a new format for the Order Form but WordPress.com just would not notify me through email! What if some one ordered? and I would never even know about it? That would be awful! C’mon WordPress… give me some slack here…

Contact Form is just so not happening.

I am adding a ‘Title’ drop down menu for customers to choose what they would like to be addressed as, just their name, or with a Mr./Miss before that, or with any honorific titles. I have people introducing themselves to me some with or without their titles, once, a Datuk introduced herself to me without her title, so I talked to her by name, then it progressed to Aunty instead. Hmm, maybe I should add that too, Aunty/Uncle in the list.

May your crust be crisp and your bread always rise. That is the baker’s blessing according to Peter Reinhart. Wait, you don’t know who Peter Reinhart is? Google him! We use his methods to make our bread, and I can’t wait to try out whole grains! Just re-watching and re-reading the ‘otai’ bakers of the world while waiting for our bakery to be completed.

 

Way past the dateline! But the Coolbot is here!

I was planning to have the new renovated bakery open by 2nd week of May. But, well, life has its plans. I think we would probably be almost super complete by end of next week. The first week of Ramadhan. The air-conditions would be installed on Monday and then we would have to insulate the cold room. We are going to try out Coolbot  which we received on last Tuesday.

So, according to the website it prefers LG airconds. So we got them at Best Denki and hopefully everything goes well. I and Dinie are contemplating whether we should buy a step down converter, or some kind of plug like the handphone one. Better email them to check.

Mother’s Day 2016

It is Mother’s Day and aren’t I excited! It would be my 4th Mother’s Day (May the 4th be with you? LOL) celebration as a mother myself and we will be celebrating with other mothers in the family! Foodinie baked a Sun Burst Apple Pie for us to enjoy, it is on the acidic side on the grand scale of tartness so it paired just nice with a dab of ice-cream!

Our renovation will resume on Monday and hopefully we would be on our last leg of the journey, despite some set backs. I mean, what is life with out a surprise twist in the arm right? :p

Have an awesome Sunday and Happy Mother’s day to ALL mothers, biological, non-biological, mother-figures, aunties and those sisters who are like mothers to their siblings, we love and salute you all! Mmmmuah!

Postponement of Orders

Dear all,

I have been meaning to write this, but we were just too caught up! We are in the middle of renovating a brand new kitchen for the Bakery, hence we have to postpone any kind of orders to concentrate in the renovation.

I truly appreciate the support and hope we can resume in the 2nd week of May 2016 according to schedule!

I am also truly sorry for not updating this blog site, I am still trying to get the hang of sharing more on social media (because I am not that social?) to keep everyone in the loop of our development.

Thank you so so much and hope we will bring you more fresh breads in May!

World Poetry Day 2016!

Today is World Poetry Day 2016! And so far, it has been great! Dinie is getting ready at the bakery for our first bake sale at Pharmaniaga, and we are also introducing our Mini-Bagels! It’s a smaller and slightly less chewy version of the bagels, targeted for the younger bread eaters aka, kids! In particular, we made it for our own kids. We are also introducing new flavours, Raisin and Cranberry into our bagels line. The Raisin and Cranberry Bagels are sweet-ish compared to the rest, my kids (and I) could just eat it on its own, or with cream cheese (if you want some delish mess). Yums!

I am a little nervous for the bake sale, because I’ve never done it before and every thing is just hectic when you have 3 young kids at home to actually prepare anything. Mental preparation <– non-existant.

A .com and a name card!

Yay! Had an awesome busy day today! We were out sourcing more organic products to be included in our bread, and miraculously I actually managed to get the http://www.thebreadfox.com domain sorted out early in the morning! Yeehaaa! And, managed to print out some name cards! woohoo! Buying domain on wordpress means I get some email address forwarding option, hence you can email us at baker@thebreadfox.com now! 🙂

I was bickering with Dinie on what position I should officially declare myself as. Dinie said it should be ‘Manager’. But, I felt that just having the word ‘Manager’ there sounds like I am hired to manage the bakery, lol. So he said, then, put ‘Owner’ lah. And I’m like, then it sounds like I own it, but I don’t do anything. So then, he said ‘Owner / Manager’. And, I have googled upside down, but we ran out of time because we need to do stuff, and so I just end up with that post. I kinda like ‘Chieftain’, but, Dinie thinks most people would want me to clarify to them if they see it on the card. So ‘Owner / Manager’ is self explanatory. I then just need to explain what is ‘Artisan Bread’. I am expecting some “Roti pun ada artist ka?” remarks from the masses. So, I need to figure out how to explain it, in two languages. Just to cover my bases.

Need to brush up my talking skills, god knows how rusty I am.
